Tractor Requirements

  • Newer tractor with Federal inspection
  • Fifth-wheel coupler height of 47-1/2"
  • Tractor weight, full of fuel, no more than 19,000 lbs.

Driver Requirements

  • Minimum age of 23
  • 12 recent months over-the road tractor trailer driving experience
  • Class A CDL with hazardous material endorsement. (Encouraged)
  • Drivers must meet all physical requirements stated in FMCSR 391, subpart E, to be qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Drivers must receive a medical certification pursuant to FMCSR 391, subpart E, by a medical examiner familiar with all DOT regulations and approved by Cornhusker Motor Lines, Inc.

Driving Record

Drivers with three (3) or more years of experience may not have more than three (3) moving violations or accidents, combined.  Drivers with 12 months of experience many not have more than two (2) moving violations or accidents, combined.
No driver may have a record, in the past three (3) years, of:
  • Reckless driving; careless driving
  • DWI
  • Hit and run
  • Refusal to take a sobriety test
  • Refusal to take drug testing
  • Open container or similar provision
  • Homicide or involvement in manslaughter
  • Operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license
  • Two (2) citations for excessive speeding (16 mph over the limit)
  • Felony conviction (s) for alcohol, drug, or moving violations

No driver may have a record in the past two (2) years of any prohibited conduct as described in subpart B 382.201, 382.204,382.205, 382.207, 382.209, 382.211, 382,213, and 382.215 of the FMCSR while satisfying the requirements of 382.605 of the FMSCR.

Training

  • Driver must participate in hazardous materials training offered at Cornhusker's Omaha terminal.
  • Driver will receive employees guide to drug and alcohol testing that addresses questions or concerns about our company policy, drug and alcohol testing programs, post accident procedures, or requirements mandated by the federal government.  The guide also has names to company contacts and phone numbers to handle your questions.


In order to ensure that drivers can home regularly, we prefer that they live near one of our major markets or along our normal traffic lanes.  Please see the attached map or our preferred hiring area.
